For many, success is measured only in dollars, accolades, social status. Tim relishes the journey inherent in every endeavor & the application of one’s best qualities & abilities to reach a pinnacle of self-satisfaction. He’s already done so as a Singer-Songwriter, Humanitarian, Master pastry chef, and a Painter. Music was the first of the first steps Tim undertook, playing drums and singing in a backyard band with his siblings at age 12. As someone whose personal growth has been visible to all through various art forms, Tim only hopes that his continuing journey will inspire more renaissance persons, and more first steps.
Nurtured with uncommon support from working class parents, all of the Fonseca children brim with various talents. Perhaps a benefit of being the youngest of the four, Tim had an adventurous spirit, a tenacious work ethic, and was the delta absorbing the many influences that flowed from his family. However, these serious qualities did not inhibit his sincere demeanor and his inviting sense of humor.
Journeys invariably involve forking pathways; the reasons for one way taken over others eventually matter little as experience accumulates. For Tim, gymnastics and martial arts, painting, and his love of music were early on subordinated to his emerging talent for pastry which carried him through culinary schooling. Tim achieved Executive Pastry Chef at Cambridges’s Charles Hotel at age 21 and has brought his expertise in that position to the Jalousie Plantation Resort in St. Lucia, the Four Seasons Hotel Boston, and currently Boston College. But Tim’s journey is not one path but many arteries, his life blood, intersecting at various points and offering opportunities for first steps. In Boston, Tim gained the epithet “the Singing Pastry Chef”, writing, performing, and recording three albums, and winning a Boston Music Awards nomination in the years between 1995 and 2009. Tim has collaborated with some of the music industry’s most respected talents and has been featured in major news media pieces, and radio/television appearances.
Since then, Tim has brought a new level of culinary excellence to academia and campus life at Boston College; and he’s expanded his focus to visual arts reconnecting with his painting, and the martial arts earning a 3rd degree black belt. Always aspiring to be a positive force in the world community, Tim is a charitable supporter for children in Ghana, and in his native Boston involves himself in fundraising drives to battle breast cancer.
As the world explodes into a new geo-political landscape Tim Fonseca has been pursuing his musical journey into new twists and turns. In early 2024, new songs and videos will be released with subsequent offerings throughout the year. The experiences that have enriched Tim’s musical and creative journey, and his music, to this point have garnered comparisons to some of the best of the best artists out there – past and present. As someone whose personal growth has been visible to all through various art forms, Tim only hopes that his continuing journey will inspire more renaissance persons, and more first steps.
